RPM Auto Repair
I had my mother bring her car to this shop and relayed to them what she had told me. Unfortunately since I was inquiring about what all the expenses were and what exactly they were doing to the vehicle they decided not to work on it. This tells me that they were likely going to try to get some free money out of this since I myself know a bit about cars. They charged $85 just to hook the car up to a computer, most places offer this for free, and then told me it was going to cost $95 to diagnose further just one of the issues before they'd do any work. My primary issue is that I am knowledgeable about cars and when asking for details they got nervous and declined to work on my mother's vehicle. Also attempting to besmirch a customer is never a good sign for a business.
In regards to Mr. Eric Laufenberg’s unsatisfied comments, we were not tremendously shocked to see a post by this customer. He clearly stated, almost threatening, that he would feel obligated to write this said review if the job was refused and not completed. This was not a vengeful decision made by RPM Auto Repair, but a well thought out and thoroughly discussed one at the least. Together as a business, myself, Renata and my husband Mark, came to the conclusion that there should be no further business transactions with this specific customer. However, it was definitely not due to the result of Mr. Laufenberg's inquisition toward the repairs, considering a great deal of being in the automotive business and owning a repair shop entails us to inform the customer on the necessary improvements while explaining why such adjustments are crucial. We understand that the business we are involved in generally requires the customer to not only trust us with their vehicle but to pay a certain amount of money that they were not expecting, considering no one hopes for car troubles. However, we hope it is understood that we did not cause the discovered issues with the car ourselves but are simply the ones delivering the bad news to the car owners. It was in our best interest for the relationship between the said customer and our business problem be resolved. In order to do that professionally, I made the decision with my husband, not to continue business with Mr. Eric Laufenberg. Attempting to remain understanding through the unnecessary comments which were made, we did not charge the $85 fee for the diagnosis we conceived, nor the amount of time spent to deliver the information to the customer. We hope Mr. Laufenberg and others reading, can understand the decision which was made and not view it as anything more than a resolution to an unsatisfied customer and our attempt to better the relationship between a client and a business.
